What you are buying

A license key that unlocks the full version of Layland on the Macs you own or control, for as long as you like. It's a one-time payment of $9.99, not a subscription, and every future update is included. There is nothing to renew and no account to keep alive.

The free version has no time limit. It scans any folder or disk and draws the whole map. The key unlocks the rest: every file and folder name at any depth, Quick Look, Reveal in Finder and Move to Trash on every item, search, and saving and opening scans.

The key is yours, for your own Macs, and not for passing on. A key that Gumroad reports as refunded, charged back, disputed or disabled stops working. The app asks Gumroad about the key once when you enter it and about once a month after, and it asks this site for updates once a day if you agree. It sends nothing else; the privacy policy has the details.

Buying it, and the refund

Layland is sold through Gumroad, who are the merchant of record. They take the payment, handle tax, and issue receipts and refunds under their terms and their privacy policy. Your payment details never reach anything I run.

There is a 14-day refund and you don't have to give a reason for it. Ask Gumroad support and it's done. The free version is there so you rarely need it: try it on your own disk before you buy.

What the app will and won't do

• It measures; it doesn't clean up for you. Layland shows what takes space. What to remove is your decision, and it removes nothing unless you choose Move to Trash and confirm.
• Moved to the Trash is not deleted. Items go to your Trash, where you can put them back until you empty it. Emptying the Trash is permanent, and that step is always yours.
• Be careful with system and app data. Folders in ~/Library and elsewhere may belong to other apps or to macOS. If you don't know what something is, find out before you trash it.
• Sizes follow the file system. Hard links are counted once, and a scan stays on one volume. Numbers can differ slightly from other tools that count these differently.

What it needs

macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. Full Disk Access is optional, but without it macOS hides some folders from the scan.

The source

The source is published under FSL-1.1-ALv2, which becomes Apache 2.0 two years after each release. That license governs the code; this page governs the app you bought.

Warranty, liability and changes

The app is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. As far as the law allows, liability for any claim arising from using it is limited to what you paid for it. None of this removes rights you have under consumer law where you live.

These terms may change as the app does, and a change never applies backward to a purchase already made. These terms are governed by French law, where the company is registered. If you bought Layland as a consumer, that choice doesn't remove the protections of the law where you live, or stop you from bringing a dispute before the courts of your own country. Anything unclear is worth asking about as an issue on GitHub.

Who you are buying from

Layland is published and sold by CSS LABS. When you buy the app you are contracting with the company rather than with me personally. I'm its only employee, which is why this site says "I".
